Dr Bowers is so very thorough and is an excellent communicator. He made appointments for my husband and I while we were traveling thru Johnsburg, IL. He enabled us to walk around with out the pain we were experiencing before he cared for our feet. He’s just an awesome podiatrist!

So far, so good! I came to him because I’m suffering from posterior tibial tendinitis due to overuse. Apparently my feet are all kinds of messed up and I’ve worked in retail for 17 years, so the combination has led to plantar fasciitis and tendinitis.I was seeing another podiatrist who suggested time off work. After taking a short term disability for almost two months I learned that this wasn’t going to heal anytime soon. I need a solution sooner. Dr. Bowers did a comprehensive study of my walk, alignment, and of course feet. My first appointment was nearly two hours but I was able to walk out in my new kicks with minimal pain! He taped up my feet and we are in the middle of getting my custom orthotics made.I’m back to work with modifications and ibuprofen, but hey… I’m back on my feet.I really appreciate his attentive approach. If you’re looking for the latest technology, coffee in the waiting room, sleek modern office this isn’t your spot. But if you’re looking for answers from a highly experienced professional with a colorful personality, this is your guy. I also love that the whole experience feels old school Johnsburg, IL.

I saw Dr. Bowers two years ago to help treat my then nagging plantar fasciitis. As advertised here on Yelp, he is thorough, extremely knowledgeable and can be blunt. In only two appointments he showed me that the medium-sized footwear I had been wearing practically all my life was not suitable for my wide feet. Changing shoes and purchasing ones with good arch support was key, as were the custom-made insoles he made that I continue to wear. Coupled with calf stretches throughout the day, my plantar has healed so I can run again, even shoot hoops (poorly)! If you don’t appreciate a medical practitioner who is to the point and a bit dark-humored, Dr. Bowers’s not your dude. But if you can appreciate one who cares about his craft and treating his patients AND can crack some jokes, he’s the man to see in Johnsburg, IL. I would not hesitate to recommend him to any friends who are suffering foot problems no matter where they may live in the Bay Area.

When we shop for doctors, we look for docs who GEEK out in their field. Seeking that one, tiny attribute in doctors has served us well for a dozen years through several large cities relocations. Beyond being honest, fun and wildly experienced, Dr. Bowers is definitely a doc who geeks out in Podiatry!Podiatrists are my favorite doctors. They pick up on things about our alignment, walk, posture before we may even notice. I personally think more people should pay them a visit before the damage starts occurring. Dr. Bowers is especially great at spotting things that I didn’t think about -not bad, just details that I hadn’t known were important to a healthy walk for an active person. He also reassured me about several non-issues that I ‘thought’ might be important concerning my kids.My whole family has loads of love for Dr. Bowers. Many thanks Doc!

At 23 years of age, the majority of all my health problems in my life that have required medical attention have manifested in my feet. Whether it was dyshidrotic eczema, ingrown toe nails that always seem to come back, bad staph infections, it is safe to say I have seen my fair share of podiatrists in my life. After working with Dr Bowers on two separate occasions now , both because of badly infected ingrown toenails, I can safely say he is the best podiatrist I have ever been too. Both operations were the least painless I’ve ever had, and believe it or not were actually enjoyable because what a cool guy he is. He is incredibly personable and easy to talk to but also really knows his trade inside and out. I’ve had multiple operations for ingrown toenails in my life , none of them pleasant, and with Dr Bowers I felt absolutely no pain during the operation. But even better was that as he offered a procedure to permanently prevent them for ever coming back, which was something up until that point I had never been told existed. My feet healed up beautifully both times thanks to his expertise as well as advice on how to make sure they heal right, even going so far as providing all gauze, wrap, padding etc. on the house which would normally cost over $50. You know a doctor is in it for all the right reasons when he tells you ” You know I would have probably made tens of thousands of more dollars If I charged for all the gauze I gave away for free over the years, but I just can’t justify making my patients pay the crazy amount to buy it over the counter.”. All in all there is not another podiatrist I would go to after Dr Bowers , and even if I ever move out of Johnsburg, IL, or hell even California, I will make the commute back to the city for his services.
